Fairy forts are human places misnamed, often by people who stopped asking questions. In Castlefarm, a broad earthen ring still stands in low land, about thirty metres across, with a hollow centre and no visible entrance. A fence bit into one edge, but the circle remains clear enough to see from above. That much is known. The rest belongs to imagination, which is fine, because the earth has already done the work of keeping the shape alive.

Enclosure described in 1943 as following; 'This monument consists of a circular mound with a slightly hollow centre. It is probable that this platform had a bank around its edge. There is no fosse and the entrance is not recognisable. The greatest height of the mound is 5' [1.5m] and its overall diameter is 100' [30m]. It is situated in good low-land. A modern fence has cut into it on the south-west side' (O'Kelly 1942-3, 179). The outline of the monument is visible today on Digital Globe aerial photographs.
