Double banks and a hidden ditch still circle the Castlecor slope, marking a place where people lived before the conifers closed the sky. The broken gaps face east and west, inviting entry rather than blocking it, while a smaller inner ring drops toward a depression filled with dumped earth. Fairy fort is the local name, but the shape is human: a home, a workshop, or a boundary drawn in soil.

In pasture, in demesne of Castlecor House, on break in SE-facing slope. Circular area (39.5m N-S; 39.5m E-W) enclosed by two earthen banks with intervening fosse and external fosse. Inner bank (int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1.3m) broken to ESE and SW (Wth 1.6m). Outer bank (int. H 1m; ext. H 1m) broad based and flat topped. External fosse (D 0.5m) survives SSW->N, heavily overgrown. Interior slopes very gently down to ESE. Internal feature, partially on line of E bank, consists of a circular area (8.8m N-S; 8.7m E-W) defined by earthen bank (int. H 1.3m; ext. H 0.8m); interior lower than interior of enclosure; opening in bank to E (Wth 1.6m) leads down into circular depression in intervening fosse; depression defined by dumped material on N and S sides.
