Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Carrownteane is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Carrownteane, County Sligo, Ireland. It occupies a slight north-facing slope in gently undulating pasture. A raised circular area measuring twenty-eight metres east-west and twenty-six metres north-south is enclosed by an earthen scarp reaching 1.3 metres in height. A 3.2-metre-wide ramp across the northeast scarp marks the original entrance, while a possible hut site extends into the interior from the northwest boundary.
Situated on slight N-facing slope in gently undulating pasture. Raised circular area (diam. 28m E-W; 26m N-S) enclosed by an earthen scarp (ext. H 1.3m). A ramp (Wth 3.2m) across the scarp at NE marks the position of the original entrance. The interior of the site slopes gently facing NE. Extending into the interior from the scarp defining the rath at NW is a possible hut site (SL013-073002-). Compiled by: Mark Keegan Date of upload: 19 January 2011
