Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Carrowmore (kilconickny Ed )

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

No visible walls or chambers remain, only a hidden circular memory beneath ordinary grass. That absence, not grandeur, is the point. The fort has stopped performing for people and continues as quiet shape, waiting for attention sharp enough to notice what it kept.
On a rise in low-lying pastureland. Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 255, no. 2) as a circular ‘Earthen fort’ (diam. 47m) defined by a bank which was destroyed at N, S and partially at E. Faint traces of a bank are visible from NE through E to S, otherwise no visible surface trace survives. A children's burial ground (GA105-055001-) lies within the interior.
