Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Carrowbane (clonderalaw By.)

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Carrowbane holds a true ringfort, yet local memory calls it a fairy fort because the boundary still resists ordinary explanation. Earth may have built the rim for human defense, but the name suggests people saw more life moving inside than sense could capture. That is not nonsense; it is the register of a place where imagination and memory stopped pretending the world was dead.
