Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Carrons

Fairy fort in Carrons, County Limerick: a broken earthen ring, 23 metres across, beside a marshy stream. Its scarp still stands one and a half metres high on the east, but fades to nothing toward the north-west, as if the circle forgot itself. People may have lived there before cattle grazed it smooth, or the fairies may have taken the ring back when the border stopped being useful. Either way, the hole remains, shallow and patient, waiting for someone to drop a stone and listen for the answer.
