Carrigpark in County Carlow holds a circular rath with two earthen banks and intervening ditches, measuring about twenty-four metres across. The outer bank has faded, but the inner shape still marks a place where people lived, defended or excluded others long before modern roads passed it. Such forts were common in Ireland, yet this one remains a visible claim on the landscape, inviting imagination about the hands that shaped it and the lives it contained.

A fairy fort, or earthen ringfort, in Carrigpark is a circular earthen enclosure typical of early-medieval Ireland, likely dating to between the 5th and 10th centuries. Local tradition associates such sites with fairy folk, and they were often avoided for fear of supernatural encounters.
