Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Cappananty

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Cappananty is called a fairy fort because humans stopped understanding it. The measure is not mystical; it is a 41m circular area with an earthen bank, external fosse, and a 2.4m gap at the northwest. That is a made place, not a random mound. The fairy part is the forgotten human hand.
In level pasture. Circular area (41m E-W) enclosed SW->E by earthen bank (int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.5m) with external fosse (D 0.7m; Wth 1.1m), and elsewhere defined by slight scarped edge. Gap in bank at NW (Wth 2.4m). Interior and enclosing element covered by dense overgrowth. A N-S field boundary abuts enclosure on W side.
