What is recorded here

Cappanafeacle in County Laois holds a circular earthwork about forty metres across, bounded by a steep scarp, a wide fosse and a substantial outer bank. People called it a fairy fort, likely because the gap at the south and the hidden interior resisted ordinary explanation. It may have been a dwelling, a boundary marker or a place where human memory slipped into myth, but the earth still shapes the field into a room without walls.

A circular area (diam. c. 41.7m) defined by a scarp, intervening fosse (Wth c. 7.2m, int. H c. 1.2m) and outer bank (Wth c. 1.4m, int. H c. 2.3m, ext. H c. 0.95m). Gap at S may be original.
