Fairy fort in Callow, County Limerick: an oval earth-and-stone bank, 40m by 32m, set atop rough pasture and outcropping limestone. Its SE entrance is 3.2m wide, the bank stands 0.7m outside and 0.2m inside, and a low field wall skirts its base from NE to SE. The name suggests people once doubted whether humans made it at all, yet the measurements leave little room for mystery. What is clearer is that the hill, the bank and the entrance still point to a place shaped for exclusion, memory or fear.

In rough pasture, atop hill, in area of outcropping limestone. Oval area (40m N-S; 32m E-W) enclosed by earth-and-stone bank NNE->NW, but bank truncated by dry-stone field wall NW->NNE. Bank (int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.7m), best preserved along S arc, lowers along W side becoming scarp-like in places. Entrance (Wth 3.2m) at SE. Interior, covered with scrub vegetation and trees, has uneven surface particularly in NW quadrant. Low field wall (H 0.25m; Wth 0.6m) skirts around external base of bank NE->SE.
