Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Briskagh

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

No visible earthwork remains in the Briskagh pasture, yet a 25-metre circular fort appeared on the 1841 survey. That vanished ring belongs to the region’s older defensive landscape, not a mapping fantasy. The land may have been grazed, dug or rebuilt until the embankment disappeared; the fort itself still has the shape of a lived-in threshold.
In gently undulating pasture. No surface trace evident of monument depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 25m) on 1841 OS 6-inch map. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
