Beal Middle holds a circular earthen fort thirty-one metres across, perched on a rise overlooking the Kerry countryside. Its bank stands one metre eighty high externally and two to five metres wide at the base, forming an unbroken ring around the centre. A separate fieldbank touches the main structure at the east-north-east, suggesting the site remained active long after its first building. The fort is small enough to walk inside a minute yet large enough to swallow a household whole.

Internal diameter 31m N-S, 29m E-W This circular univallate rath is situated on a rise that has a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. The enclosing bank is a maximum of 1.8m high externally and .8m high internally; it ranges from 2m-5m in width at the base.
