No fairies have been identified at Bawnacouma. The circular earthwork, forty-six metres across, still stands beside ordinary fields in County Limerick. Its eastern entrance was narrowed and fitted with a gate, while fences and stone facing changed the old bank. Inside and out, the ground remains level, making the fort less a dramatic ruin than a hidden neighbour in the landscape.

Earthwork described in 1942-3 as following; 'This is a circular space enclosed by an earthen bank. Outside this there is a fosse. The interior seems level with the field outside. Quite recently the bank has been faced with stones on the outside. These have been collected off the neighbouring fields. It is now used as a paddock and the original entrance on the east side has been narrowed and fitted with a gate. Fences have been built against the rampart on the N. W. and S.E. sides.
