What is recorded here
Fairy fort and human rath share one hill in Barstown. People may have circled it with fire, tools or fear, while the fairies kept the centre closed. The earth remembers both claims without choosing between them.
Located at the crest of a S-facing slope. This is visible as an enclosure on aerial images (OSI 2005; Google Earth 10/05/2009; Bing 2013) where it appears as a subcircular grass-covered area (dims 48m E-W; 44m E-W) defined by an earthen bank, with traces of two outer banks NNW-NE (max. ext. diam. c. 80m). It is not clearly discernible at ground level.
