Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Barnaboy (longford By.),crowsnest

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Crowsnest and Barnaboy both make claims, but the grassy ring remains nameless and broken. A field boundary cut across its eastern edge, and a stream now runs beside the scarred bank instead of feeding the life within. The fort is small enough to walk in seconds, yet large enough to hide an entire lost neighborhood.
In level pastureland. Very poorly preserved roughly subcircular enclosure (28m WNW-ESE; 21m NNE-SSW) defined by a bank from SW to WNW and by a scarp from WNW to NE. A curving field boundary, immediately to the E of which flows a stream, overlies the enclosing element from NE through E to S.
