What is recorded here

Barleymount Middle holds a vanished ringfort where children were buried, according to the father of the landowner who remembered the outer fosse before ploughing erased it. The circular trace still bulges slightly across the pasture, sloping southeast as if the earth itself leans toward the horizon. What was lost is not forgotten; it is simply waiting for someone to stop measuring and start listening.

In pasture, on the plateau of a low hill. This rath is indicated as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on the 1846 OS 6-inch map. It has been levelled though a vague trace of a slightly raised circular area (c. 36m N-S; c. 34m E-W) is visible. The interior slopes down to the SE. The landowner recalls that the rath had an outer fosse and he was told by his father that the rath was used as a children's burial ground (KE058-086001-).
