Fairy forts hide in plain sight, wearing fields and forgotten roads instead of stone. Ballyva keeps one beneath an ordinary place, waiting for someone stopped and listening. What is missing is not absent; it has shifted into dream, memory and latent life.

A fairy fort, likely an early-medieval ringfort, situated on a gentle slope in Ballyva, with a visible eastern bank and a man-made underground passage in its SW quadrant. Local tradition associates such sites with fairy lore, and the structure may have had both domestic and ritual significance in early Irish society.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
