What is recorded here

Fairy forts are human places misnamed because people stopped remembering they were human. This is a ringfort in Ballynoe: a level circular area about forty metres across, enclosed by an earthen bank and a shallow outer ditch. A farm track has crossed part of the ditch for a long time, and the interior has become waterlogged and overgrown. The name may be wrong, but the shape is not: someone built a boundary there, lived inside it or kept it as a marker, and forgot to make the purpose obvious.

In level pasture. Circular area (diam. c. 40m) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.4m) with external fosse (D 0.1m; Wth 1.2m). Gap (Wth c. 4m) through bank at NNE. Farm trackway overlies fosse WSW->NW. Field boundary skirts along outer edge of fosse E->SW; continuation of boundary SW->E has been removed- probably bulldozed into fosse.
