What is recorded here
Fairy forts are no such thing. They are human buildings, often old, misnamed because people stopped remembering how they were made. Ballyneale is one of them: a circular enclosure now hidden under grass and forgetfulness. The fairies did not build it. People did. Forgetting turned the truth into legend.
In pasture, atop low rise in otherwise level terrain. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1923 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. However, site is still discernable as circular area (diam. 33m) defined by ring of differential grass growth.
