Fairy forts are earthen rings built by humans, yet local stories still call them fairy forts because people once believed the fairies lived there. The ring at Ballynamona has a narrow eastern gap, a double bank on parts of its edge, and a shallow ditch that grass still marks today. It sits on a sunny slope where cattle graze, not far from ordinary fields and fences. A person who walked in at dusk may have seen shadows move in the ditch, heard rhythm in the wind, or felt the small circle watching back.

In pasture, on S-facing slope. Circular area (32m N-S; 31m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.2m); second bank (H 1.5m) exists to N and W, with intervening fosse. Second bank stone-faced on inside to W, where incorporated into field fence system. Fosse to S visible as band of darker vegetation. Entrance (Wth 2m) to E.
