Fairy fort is a small earthen ring above a limestone ridge in Ballynahallee. Its bank and scarped edge still mark a level circle wide enough for a household, though pasture and loose stone now cover what lived there. The name suggests people once believed the fort belonged to another kind of resident, leaving the true owners absent from every account.

In pasture, atop limestone crag. Roughly circular area (33.9m N-S; 37m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.05) W->NNE and ENE->WSW, and defined by scarped edge (H 0.85m; Wth 4.1m) WSW->W and NNE->ENE. Dry-stone wall, forming field boundary, incorporates bank E->WSW. Level interior, under pasture, is littered with loose stone; its surface was skimmed by bulldozer in 1996 to clear scrub. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
