Fairy fort in Ballynagoul is a circular earthen ringfort standing in reclaimed pasture beside the Mountblakeney boundary. Its raised bank, ditch and possible north-west entrance have survived behind bushes and field edges since at least the 1840 map. People may have lived, hidden or marked ownership there before the land was changed, while local wonder still gives it a fairy name.

In reclaimed pasture, 125m W of a watercourse that marks the townland boundary with Mountblakeney. Depicted as a circular shaped earthwork on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map. It is shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a raised roughly circular-shaped area (dims. c. 27m N-S; 30m E-W) defined by a scarp, which forms post 1700 century field boundary from S-W, with fosse and outer bank visible from W-N-NE. A gap in outer bank at NW may be original entrance feature. Outline of monument delimited by bushes is visible on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages. A fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballynagoul is a circular early-medieval defensive or domestic site, likely dating to between the 6th and 10th centuries AD. Local folklore may associate it with supernatural or fairy activity, as suggested by its traditional name.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
