Fairy forts are not forts at all. They are circles of exclusion, places where the ordinary world stops pretending to understand itself. Ballynabortagh keeps that boundary still visible: a shallow ring on an open slope, small enough to walk around in a minute, large enough to refuse forgetting. The fairies never needed walls. They needed people to stop entering with certainty.

In pasture, on SW-facing slope. Levelled; roughly circular area (43.3m N-S; 37.1m E-W) defined by low earthen bank (int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.25m). Shallow depression outside bank to NNW.
