Fairy fort in Ballymackesy, County Limerick: a broken earthen ring, 32.9m by 30.3m, hiding under rough pasture on a slight south-west slope. Its scarped edge rises only 0.35m, yet it still marks the boundary between ordinary field and forgotten life. People may have stood inside it, watched the valley, kept fire or fled the dark; the fairies took the story and kept the shape.
