What is recorded here

Fairy forts are often circular enclosures, not literal fairy palaces. This one stood in Ballymacandrew South, marked on the 1841-42 map and absent later, its earth perhaps levelled or forgotten. People may have lived beside it, feared it, or simply stopped mentioning it once it disappeared from view.

This circular enclosure is marked on the 1841-42 OS map in the townland of Ballymacandrew North, but by the 1916 edition the townland boundaries had been moved.
