What is recorded here

Ballylegan held two circular forts on a NW-facing slope, but ploughs and forgotten hunger erased the first. The second still shadows the soil as a cropmark, revealing its fosses only when sunlight strikes the field at the right angle. What looked like empty ground in 1842 may have been a neighbourhood of households, herds and arguments, now reduced to a pale line visible from above.
