Half a circle of earth and shadow still stands in Ballykissane pasture, its missing eastern edge surrendered to time or plough. The bank rises four metres above a deep fosse, wide enough for people to move around but narrow enough to feel watched. Cattle graze beside it now, unaware that the ground once held a doorway, a chamber, or a life. What is absent has not stopped shaping the place.

Internal diam. 42.2m N-S, 37m E-W Located on level pastureland 50m ENE of a levelled enclosure (KE056-017----), this overgrown rath is enclosed by an earthen bank and an external fosse. Its E sector is no longer extant. On the first edition of the OS map it is shown as a circular enclosure, while on the second edition map it appears as a semicircular enclosure, open to E. The 3m wide fosse is 2.8m in maximum depth below external ground level. The earthen enclosing bank rises 4m on average above the base of the fosse, is 2.8m wide and falls 2m to the interior of the rath. The entrance to the site may have been located in its levelled sector. A series of roofing lintels of a Man-made underground passage (KE056-016002-) were exposed in the early 1990s during land improvement operations at this site. The above description is derived from A.
