Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballyhahill

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Ballyhahill is where a forty-metre fairy fort vanished into a quarry, then the quarry vanished into grass. The land kept swallowing its own shape until even the holes forgot they were holes. What remains is a pasture that tilts north like a tongue holding back a name.
In pasture, on slight N-facing slope. Monument depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. C. 40m) on 1840 OS 6-inch map is no longer evident. This area is now very uneven as the result of a small quarry which once operated here- it is depicted on the 1923 OS 6-inch map- but is now grassed over.
