Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballygrennan (connello Upper By.)

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort in Ballygrennan, a shallow earthen ring about eighteen metres across, sits in marshy meadow beneath recent trees. Its thin scarped edge still marks the boundary though grass has buried every inner trace. People may have stood there, argued, loved or forgotten the place entirely before it became a fairy story. The land kept the shape even when memory let go.
In meadow, on low-lying marshy ground, surrounded by recent forest plantation A rectangular area around the site has been fenced-off and no trees planted within it. Roughly circular area (18.2m N-S; 16.6m E-W) defined by scarped edge (H 0.6m; Wth 1.2m). Entire site is covered by tall meadow but interior appears to be level and featureless.
