Located on a level landscape. The cropmark of a circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) with a single defining fosse is visible on aerial photographs (MM (20) 25-8). It is also visible on digital aerial photographs (WX039-070_1 to _7) taken in 2006. There is an entrance gap at E. A fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballyfarnoge is a circular early-medieval defensive or domestic site, likely dating to between the 5th and 10th centuries AD. Local tradition associates such sites with the faé or supernatural beings, and they were often avoided or revered in Irish folklore.
