What is recorded here

Castle Hewson keeps its walled garden sharp and clean while the forgotten fort beside it drowns in briars. A thirty-metre ring may still hold its shape beneath the thorns, but the land has stopped answering questions about it.

On E-facing slope, in area completely covered with briars, immediately W of walled garden of Castle Hewson. Monument, depicted as roughly circular embanked enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1923 OS 6-inch map, is now completely covered by briar thicket. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
