Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballyelan

Fairy forts are a local story for old ring ditches, but this is a real rath in Ballyelan pasture. It measures about sixteen by eighteen metres, has a two-metre outer bank, a shallow outside ditch in places, and a worn gap where cattle have cut through at the east-southeast. The ground inside slopes downward and now holds young deciduous trees, so the old circle has become a small green room rather than a ruined fortress.
