What is recorded here

No one knows when the ring closed or who first walked its edge, but the land remembered the shape long before humans did. The fairies built it, or perhaps they only claimed it later, wearing the forgotten walls like a glove. Either way, the circle is complete, the stream still cuts its southern edge, and the field above holds a shape no plow has ever erased.

Though not marked on the 1841-42 OS map, this circular enclosure appears on the later edition and is slightly cut on the SE side by a stream flowing SW. It also shows up quite clearly on aerial photographs, but no surface trace of it can be seen. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle.
