Fairy forts are human places misnamed, often thrown away or built over because people believed they belonged to others. The earthen ring at Ballycrenane is no longer complete, yet its bank and scarp still mark a chosen edge on the slope. That much is enough to stop pretending the land is empty.

In pasture, on steep ENE-facing slope. Levelled; roughly oval area (c. 34m N-S; 44m E-W) defined by earthen bank (int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.9m) from WSW->NNW; scarp (max. H 2.4m) NNW->ESE. Remainder disturbed by farm buildings. According to Power (1940, 23), 'There is a circular lios on Sloane's farm and, near north boundary....was a smaller similar monument.
