What is recorded here

No visible wall remains in Ballybrack, but the earth still holds a shallow circular scar beside the stream. That shape resisted ordinary field boundaries when surveyors first drew it, suggesting people valued the circle enough to bend local lines around it. The fairies may have lived there before humans, but the earth remembers the boundary they drew.

In wet pasture, on W side of stream. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; circular area (32m N-S; 27m E-W) raised 0.4m above surrounding field level and enclosed by very shallow fosse. Townland boundary bisects interior on ENE-WSW axis; southern townland boundary of Kilmacoom curved to respect line of enclosure on 1842 OS 6-inch map.
