What is recorded here
No visible mound remains in Ballinvallig, only a shallow circular scar cutting through level pasture. That much is clear. The fairies may have taken the rest, or men may have taken it for fields, roads or building stone. The hole is still there, waiting to be explained.
In level pasture. Circular area (24.8m N-S; 26.3m E-W) defined by scarped edge (H 0.6m; Wth 0.4m). An E-W running field boundary skirts base of scarp at S. A farm shed has been built into scarp at NNE. An ESB pole stands 1m inside top of scarp at NNW. Interior level, dry and clear of overgrowth.
