What is recorded here

No visible fort remains in Ballintubbrid, though a 1924 map marked a forty-metre embanked circle and a 2002 aerial photograph still showed its shadow in the crops. The land has been turned over, perhaps by ploughs, perhaps by forgetting. What was concealed may have been a home, a boundary, or a warning. The absence does not erase the shape; it redirects attention from the mound to the memory of the mound.

In level pasture. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on 1924 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. No evident trace of site when inspected.
