Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballingowan

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Mud and muscle built the Fort of the Fairies before written memory, shaping a thirty-metre circle where humans and myths still entangle. The fairies never departed; they simply stopped fearing the light. They wait for the forgetful, not the fierce, testing whether mortality still believes imagination or has surrendered to literal force.
In level pasture. Circular area (30.9m N-S; 28.2m E-W) defined by scarped edge (H 1.95m; Wth 2.4m), with broad shallow external fosse (D 0.3m; Wth 7.3m) S->N. External counterscarp earthen bank (ext. H 1.5m) W->N. Entrance (Wth 2m) at ESE. Pond (diam. c. 4m) in fosse at N. Interior level, dry and clear of overgrowth.
