What is recorded here

No visible trace remains of the Ballinclemesig ringfort, yet the 1842 map caught it before ploughs and progress erased the mark. It sat in the corner of a field with three banks touching its rim, a small circular room built for human life or fairy trickery. The later map showed it flattened, one bank running along the northeast side, as if the ground had swallowed the shape. What was lost is not nothing. The field still holds the memory of a boundary drawn in earth, and the absence proves the fact: people made a mark there, then the mark was taken back.

This circular enclosure was marked on the 1842 OS map as being situated in the corner of a field with three fieldbanks touching it. It appears to have been somewhat levelled when it appeared on the later edition map, with a fieldbank running along the NE side. No visible trace of this site survives.
