Fairy forts are a common kind of earthen ringfort, but people called them fairy forts because they thought fairies lived there. In Ballinaya the earth bank is still visible on a slight rise in pasture, with a gap in the eastern side and a stone fence cutting across the site. The interior has become overgrown, and the place now belongs more to story and memory than to daily use.

On slight rise, in pasture. Circular area (28m N-S; 30.5m E-W), enclosed by earthen bank (ext. H 0.65m), levelled N to E. Gap in ESE. Stone fence bisects site, N to E. Interior overgrown.
