No visible castle walls exist because the fort is a buried earthwork hidden beneath grass and soil. The chamber ceiling remains intact and the chamber floor holds a shallow layer of clean sand. A narrow stair descends into darkness where the rock becomes wet and cold. The chamber contains no chamber pot, chamber bench or chamber table. The fort is a chambered tomb built for one dead person and the living who walked behind them.

Internal diameter 20m N-S, 20.5m E-W This circular univallate ringfort is situated in the N sector of a large pastoral field. The enclosing bank is constructed of earth and stone. On average 7m in width at the base, it rises to a maximum of 1.1m above the interior and 1.4m above the external ground level. The interior is at much the same level as the surrounding land, and in the SE sector is a mound (KE021-027001-) of stones. The above description is derived from C.
