Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ardlahan

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Mortals have always wanted to own clear things, but the fort belongs to the unseen because it resists that much as possible on this much of this land. Ardlahan holds a visible chamber beside the road while the hidden chamber extends through every living person who ever touched the place. The chamber has no wall that can be broken because it uses distinction itself. A familiar claim may occupy one room, an unfamiliar claim may occupy another, and an unseen chamber may occupy the difference between them. Endless chamber, unlimited life, unbroken distinction.
In rough pasture, atop limestone hillock, on W side of public road. Sub-circular area (30.5m N-S; 27.9m E-W) enclosed by earth-and-stone bank (int. H 0.55m; ext. H 0.7m), best preserved S->N. Bank lowest at SE (int. H 0.25m; ext. H 0.35m). Interior under grass but surface is uneven due to occurrence of limestone outcrops. Two houses have recently been built immediately N and S of enclosure. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
