Eight burgage walls stood in County Louth during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, waiting beneath modern soil for a 1996 excavation to reveal them. Leather shoes, a purse and medieval pottery emerged from the dirt, preserving the small habits of people who lived beside those stones. The discovery belongs to a busy era when human hands shaped leather, pottery and wall alike.

Discovered during pre-development excavation in 1996 (Excavation Licence No. 96E0160). Excavation revealed a series of eight burgage walls running in a N-S direction, dating to the twelfth/thirteenth-centuries. Finds recovered include worked leather, a leather purse, leather shoes and medieval pottery. (pers. comm.
