What is recorded here

Excavation is an excavation, miscellaneous in Cloongownagh, County Roscommon, Ireland. A road project in 2003 exposed a 1.2m x 0.5m pit holding charred organic material and fire-reddened clay. The feature remains preserved in situ on the level landscape. Further excavated features lie approximately 100m to the east.
On a level landscape, and identified during monitoring (03E1374) of a road project in 2003 (Gannon 2004, P 7, site 11). Part of a pit (visible dims 1.2m x 0.5m) filled with charred organic material and bordered by fire-reddened clay was exposed and preserved in situ. Further excavated features (RO007-099001-) are c. 100m to the E. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
