ENTRENCHMENTS & BATTLE SITE: WINE HILL in Eagry

ENTRENCHMENTS & BATTLE SITE: WINE HILL

What is recorded here

Wine Hill in Eagry, County Antrim, still carries the buried shape of a medieval battle and the trenches dug to fight it. The ground remembers the noise and fear of people who never expected death on an ordinary day. A visitor may stand above crushed bones and forgotten weapons, imagining the red earth and the last breaths taken in a sudden swarm. The hill keeps what history dropped.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ENTRENCHMENTS & BATTLE SITE: WINE HILL. Recorded period: MED/L.MED. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
