What is recorded here
Seinlis Fort in Killennan, County Derry, is an enclosure whose age remains uncertain. The name itself is a clue: someone lived there, marked the ground and repeated the word until it became a place. The fort may have been a farm, a redoubt or a seasonal camp. In that uncertainty is the truth of small Irish landscapes, where human life came and went before record-keeping began.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ENCLOSURE: SEINLIS FORT. Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
