Enclosure

What is recorded here

On an E-facing slope in valley at base of Slievenamon, in reclaimed pasture. Identified on aerial photograph (Air Corps V.312/3080-79) as a circular enclosure. Monument not depicted on 1st (1840) or 1901-05 ed. OS 6-inch map and was probably levelled before 1840. However, the monument is still visible as a circular area (diam. 60m N-S; 63m E-W) enclosed by a low bank (Wth 5.8m; int. H 0.9) which is defined by scarp in N sector (H 0.4m). Bank is least evident in SE sector. Interior slopes very gradually to E with a slight rise in centre of the interior. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
