What is recorded here
On a terrace on N slopes of a ridge. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a roughly circular enclosure (D c. 35m) but on 3rd ed. (1932), a small circular pit (D c. 20m) is shown. What is visible is a small mound of grassed-over earth and stone (D 15m), immediately N of which is a large rectangular pit. Possibly the result of a cartograhic error on 1st ed., showing a raised area rather than a depression.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
