Smarmore in County Louth holds a hidden circular enclosure about forty metres wide, buried beneath average land despite commanding a wide outlook. A slight knoll marked the fort site in 1966, yet no walls remain visible at ground level. The earth may still preserve the shape of a lost dwelling, waiting for rain or memory to reveal its edges.
