What is recorded here

Enclosure in Sheastown is a vanished circular boundary, forty metres across, buried inside a small Kilkenny woodland. It appeared on the 1839 map beside two sand and gravel quarries, then disappeared from the 1899 revision as if the trees had swallowed the stone. The quarries may have taken its markers, or people may have stopped seeing what no longer served them. Either way, the enclosure did not fade naturally; it was removed, reused or forgotten.

OS 6-inch map in a small woodland plantation, with a sand/gravel quarry c. 10m to the NE and another one immediately to the SE.
